It's finally, finally here!! If you're new to the fertility awareness world, you may not know that Kindara originally launched pre-orders for Wink in the summer of 2014--almost two full years ago! For anyone who was an early supporter (guilty as charged!), this was a long time to wait for such an exciting idea to come to fruition. But the wait is finally over and I've got my hot little hands on the Wink at last.
You don't have to use Wink to use FAM. Any oral/vaginal thermometer that runs to the 10th degree accurately will work. So why would you drop $129 on a thermometer? Because Wink was made specifically with FAM charters in mind and has some truly drool-worthy features that make it any FAM lover's dream.
I've had my eye on underwear since I heard about them several years ago, but I never had the guts to give them a try. I decided to order them last month on a whim, and I've been waiting for my period to roll around so I could put them through the paces. I finally got the chance, and I'm here to report the good, the bad, and the ugly. (Okay, it's mostly good. Little bad. And no ugly.)
**By the way, this post is going to talk a lot about menstrual blood and flow...nothing too icky, but just be forewarned. Although, I'm guessing if you're here, you're not all that squeamish about stuff like that anyway. 😊**
FIRST OF ALL, WHAT EXACTLY ARE THINX?
Thinx underwear are a revolutionary new take on a reusable menstrual product. It's one of my favorite examples of companies trying to bring women's healthcare into the 21st century. I mean...we've put a man on the moon, we walk around with tiny supercomputers in our pockets, and yet we still use crappy pads and tampons for our period?? Thinx uses some pretty nifty technology to create a whole new kind of underwear.
As a charting nut, I really loved the options provided in FF. You can tell it was designed with fertility awareness in mind, and it's definitely at the forefront of its design. The interface is not the best (we'll get to that in a second), but as far as features, data, and analytics options for diehard charters, it blows Kindara out of the water. Here are a couple advanced features I absolutely loved:
